I have my Push2Run set to launch with windows, which works fine, but then a few months later it just doesn't launch. I tried to launch it manually but it opens then closes a few seconds after. I tried reinstalling and I get this error message.

Administrator mode didn't help either.
I also tried uninstalling as well as deleting Push2Run registry files, but still showed the same error after reinstalling. After the error message, It had the same problem, opening then closing.

If you have not already so, please download the most current version of the program from the website
push2run.com
If you are using a specialized startup icon that you built or changed yourself, one that set the compatibility of the system set differently, or asks that the program starts with admin access, please delete it.
Once done, can you please reboot your system.
When your system restarts, if you have the Windows UAC turned off please try turning it on to its default level
Please try the install again with the most current version.
If it is still not working, can you please confirm what version of Windows are you using and what your Windows UAC setting is set to. Also, please let me know what is happening now?

CreateProcess Failed: Code 740 is an error that’s caused by Windows being unable to properly load up the permissions that your PC requires to run. If this error is showing on your PC, it means that you don’t have the correct “rights” to perform the operation, and needs to be resolved by first ensuring that you can repair the various problems that your PC may have, as well as then cleaning out any of the errors that will prevent the software from running correctly

did you install the latest version (3.0) from the website?
Is the same thing happening as before?
Is push2run running if you look in task manager?

There is a setting file called
user.config
in a folder called
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Rob_Latour\Push2Run.exe_Url_yyy\3.0.0.0
where xxx is your windows user id and yyy is a long string of letters and numbers
Please try making a copy of that file someplace, and then deleting the original, and then running the program again.

I followed those steps just now and ran the program, but it still closes after launch and also recreates the file I removed.

I understand that it recreates the settings file if it is not there - the program is designed to do that. I'm not sure why it is suddenly stopping on your machine. One reason might have been the settings file was corrupted, but the test you ran just proved that not to be the case.
I'm going to think on this a bit.

I found this post, with someone having a similar message quite some time ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/learnpython/co ... _to_run_a/
does this happen only with Push2Run, or with other programs too?

It only happens to Push2Run. I don't have any other programs that do this. Also, I don't have gpedit.msc on my PC when I run it. I think Group policy editor is disabled.
