Turn Off Devices
Turn Off Devices
This might not be supported in the protocol, but it would be great if there were a command to turn off the TV's.
Re: Turn Off Devices
Casting is about sending a media stream to a device, it won't be able to turn it on or off.
As an alternative, myself I had at one point built an esp32 based IR controller that acted as a remote. I then used Push2Run to trigger an 'api' like command via curl to change the cannels / turn the tv on or off. It was however, in my mind, overly complicated when things went wrong, for example the esp32 lost its wifi connection, so I just ended up reaching for the remote most of the time
Another solution, would be just to connect a voice controlled power plug to the tv, but I'm not sure if that's great for the TV or not - and of course would require TV boot times on startup

I'm using Broadlink RM3 mini infrared universal remote control in bedroom and RM Pro in living room (because it uses RF too, needed for my automatic curtains). Using for years now and it works perfectly with Push2run.
And with Assistant Computer Control and IFTTT, I can with one command turn off TV, PC, lights etc.
