Having troubles with IFTTT Google Assistant trigger phrases

Post by NarueTakahashi »

I have a problem with the IFTTT trigger. My native language is Spanish, so I've created triggers like "Dile a mi PC que $" (Tell my PC to $), but when I say that phrase to Google Assistant, it just make a Google search with that phrase. I've tried a lot of possible triggers and the only one which have worked is "PC $", literally just telling something like "PC abra la calculadora" (PC open calc) is the only way to make it work, but in Spanish that phrase brings a lot of grammar errors so it's very weird to say/listen things with that trigger. There's any way to make the other triggers work?

When you set up your IFTTT applet for the 'Then' part, did you pick
"Say a phrase with a text ingredient"

Also, can you please take a look and ensure you have a $ (dollar sign) in all the right places as shown on step 13 here:
https://www.push2run.com/setup_pushbullet.html

Additionally, did you pick "Spanish" for the language (also as shown on step 13)?

Depending on which service you are using:

Pushbullet - did you set up as shown in step 18 : here https://www.push2run.com/setup_pushbullet.html
Pushover - did you set up as shown in step 14 here: https://www.push2run.com/setup_pushover.html
Dropbox - did you set up as shown in step 14 here: https://www.push2run.com/setup_dropbox.html

If you did all this and it still does not work, can you please post back here with the contents of your Session Log after you have issued a command that you feel should have worked but didn't.

Hi. I'm sorry for answering late.

There's my IFTTT applet

https://ibb.co/HXtwFtg

And there's my "Say a phrase with a text ingredient" field. The only trigger that works is the "PC $" one.

There's my "Push a note" field. I think everything is kinda well configured since the app actually works with the "PC $" trigger.

There's my session log. I deleted my username but it's indeed the correct one. The app works when I say "PC abra la calculadora" in this case, but telling Google Assistant "Dile a mi PC que abra la calculadora" or "Haz que mi PC abra la calculadora" just makes the Assistant doing a google search with that words.

Thanks the above was very helpful.

I'm glad you got it working fine with "PC abra la calculadora" which is clearly matching your IFTTT applet for "PC $".

As for your other expressions "Dile a mi PC que abra la calculadora" and "Haz que mi PC abra la calculadora", from what you have shown it should work - but does not. Having that said, the problem is not with Push2Run, rather IFTTT - as Push2Run is not being sent a trigger from IFTTT for those commands (although it is being sent one for "PC abra la calculadora").

Accordingly, here are a couple of ideas:

1. try saying "PC dile a mi PC que abra la calculadora" and "PC haz que mi PC abra la calculadora". In both cases, you can then look into the Push2Run Session log to see how IFTTT is interpreting those commands in Spanish. So for example if you say ""PC dile a mi PC que abra la calculadora" and IFTT sends "Dime PC que abra la calculadora" then you just need to change the command in IFTTT to "Dime PC que abra la calculadora".

2. send IFTTT a support request (assuming you are a pro member).

In any case, I would appreciate knowing the results out of idea 1. above.

Hope this helps.
