Available voices

Post by janmort »

I would love to cast in Danish. I have installed a Danish voice on my PC (Microsoft Helle), but it is not listed in the inventory output.
I know it says in your text:
Not all Windows voices may be available. However, Microsoft David Desktop and Microsoft Zira Desktop (the Windows 10 default voices) should be available.
Anything at all I can do about this?

I'm really not sure why Windows seems to work with some but not others, but here is a link that you may want to try - it references one Danish voice:

Thank you, but that is the one I installed.
Maybe you could tell me which function you use to detect voices and I can dig into it myself?

OK, I found the solution:

In the registry, go to HKLM:\software\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Voices\Tokens
There you see ALL the installed voices.
Rightclick the voice missing and export it to a .reg file.

Edit the regfile and replace the two keys "HKLM:\software\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Voices\Tokens" with "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\SPEECH\Voices\Tokens"
Then run a merge with this reg file.

Now it works and my casts speaks Danish.
